Iran emerges as the largest bitumen exporter in 2020 with record volumes shipped to the AMEA Region. The largest bitumen exporters are South Korea, Singapore and Iran. South Korea exported 3.12 million tons of bitumen in 2020 and Singapore exported 2.7 million tons of bitumen in 2020 while Iran exported around 4 million tons of bitumen. These record volumes were shipped to large regional buyers across Asia, Middle East and Africa. The top Iranian bitumen producers and traders will be participating at the Petrosil 6th AMEA Bitumen Conference on October 27, 2021 in Dubai during Expo 2020 and the start of the region’s peak demand season. Early confirmed participants include Hormozan Oil, Petro Sanat Hormozan, Hiwa Oil, Bituco Group, Ethicon Impex, Signify, Infinity Galaxy, Oxin Trade and many more.
• Singapore
Singapore’s February bitumen export was up by 25% at 235,000 tons as cargoes were shipped to China, Indonesia, Thailand & Malaysia. During the period January to February 2021, Singapore exported 424826 MT of Bitumen. The country exported 189084 MT of Bitumen in January 2021 and 235742 MT in February 2021. During the period Jan to February 2020, Singapore exported 489727 MT of Bitumen. As per the data analysis by our team, export of the country has decreased by 13% during Jan to February 2021, as compared to the same period last year i.e. Jan to February 2020. Compared to last month i.e. January 2021, export of the country has gone up by 25% in the month of February 2021, while in January 2021 export of the export of the country has gone down by 23% as compared to December 2020 export. Singapore bitumen export has decreased by 10% in February 2021, as compared to same period last year i.e. February 2020. During the month of February 2021, Singapore exported 235742 MT of Bitumen. The country exported most of its bitumen to different countries like 88366 MT (37%) to China, 48090 MT (20%) to Indonesia, 23947 MT (10%) to Thailand, 21789 MT (9%) to Malaysia, 21142 MT (9%) to Australia, 18118 MT (8%) to Vietnam, 5651 MT (2%) to Taiwan, 5231 MT (2%) to Philippines, 2982
MT (1%) to Bangladesh and 426 MT to Other countries.
•Thailand
Thailand bitumen export to Cambodia up by 35% at 5130 tons year to year in February. During the period January to February 2021, Cambodia imported 10467 MT of Bitumen from Thailand. The country imported 5330 MT of Bitumen in January 2021 and 5137 MT in February 2021. During the period Jan to February 2020, Cambodia imported 6846 MT of Bitumen from Thailand. As per the data analysis by our team, import of the country has increased by 53% during Jan to February 2021, as compared to the same period last year i.e. Jan to February 2020. Compared to last month i.e. January 2021, import of the country has gone down by 4% in the month of February 2021. Cambodia Bitumen import from Thailand has increased by 35% in February 2021, as compared to same period last year i.e. February 2020.
• India
During the period Jan to February 2021, India consumed 1.40 million MT of bitumen. The bitumen consumption was 676,000 MT in January and 724,000 MT in February 2021. During the period Jan to February 2020, India consumed 1.51 million MT of bitumen. As per the data analysis by our team, India’s Bitumen consumption dipped down by 7% during Jan to February 2021, as compared to the same period last year i.e. Jan to February 2020. India’s bitumen consumption has gone up by 7% in February 2021, as compared to last month i.e. January 2021. India’s bitumen consumption decreased by 11% in February 2021, as compared to same period last year i.e. February 2020.
• South korea
South Korea’s FOB Bitumen price up by 25% since start of the year. Current FOB bitumen bulk prices in South Korea are in the range of USD 385 – 395 PMT and prices gone down by USD 10 PMT as compared to last week prices. Average FOB South Korea Bitumen prices reported at USD 315 PMT in January 2021, while further prices went up & prices reported at USD 355 PMT in February and USD 410 PMT in March 2021. In current month i.e. early April 2021, price of the product have decrease by USD 20 PMT (5%) as compared to last month prices & reported at USD 390 PMT. Prices are up by USD 205 PMT (111%) in April 2021 as compared to same period last year i.e. April 2020. Since January 2021 prices increased by USD 75 PMT (24%) in April 2021.
• Uae
UAE’s Bitumen exports to India down by 25% at 111,300 tons in February. During the period January to February 2021, India imported 262339 MT of Bitumen from UAE. The country imported 150985 MT of bitumen in January 2021 and 111354 MT in February 2021. During the period January to February 2020, India imported 163553 MT of Bitumen from UAE. As per the data analysis by our team, import of the country has increased by 60% during Jan to February 2021, as compared to the same period last year i.e. Jan to February 2020. Bitumen import from UAE has gone down by 26% in February 2021, as compared to last month i.e. January 2021. Bitumen import from UAE has increase by 3% in February 2021, as compared to same period last year i.e. February 2020.
